About Me
I was the kind of kid who religiously kept a diary and never saw the scenery out the car window because my nose was always buried in a book. That love of reading and writing led to a career in print journalism and, later, communications. More than 20 years later I still love sharing stories and am happiest with a pen in my hand.
My experience includes issues management, editorial writing, crisis communications, content development, newsletter design and editing, and social media co-ordination.
I’m always willing to go the extra mile; no task is too big or small, and I’m not afraid to extend myself for clients I believe in. I’ve hand-fed lions, milked cows, jumped out of planes and much more in the line of duty, so I’m nothing if not dedicated.
I settled in Whakatane in 2009 and now run McLeary Media, a writing, editing and communications agency.
When I'm not working I'm usually found running, travelling or refereeing disputes between my two kids. I'm also writing a collection of short stories.
